I Have Such Sights To Show You

You ain’t seen a thing
Just wait until I’m going down in flames

It might seem that things have gone a bit quiet in the ol’ Strange & Spooky World. But trust me; that’s only on the surface. There is so much strange, spooky, and just plain weird stuff bubbling away, just out of view, So much, in fact, that I felt I needed to post something to let everyone know what’s getting ready to explode.

Books, Books, Books

To all of you who have come up to my table at a public appearance/signing and said “I have all these books. When’s something new coming out?”, take heart; new things are coming!

Northern Ohio Legends & Lore
The final book in my Legends & Lore trilogy (always wanted to say I’d done a trilogy is scheduled to hit bookshelves in early 2025.

Ohio’s Historic Haunts II
The follow-up to my 2015 book with Kent State University Press is currently in development, once again with KSUP. Contract is signed, the 21 Ohio locations have been identified and scheduling is well underway. Slated for a 2026 release.

The Frogman Amalgam
As many of you are aware, I have an unhealthy obsession with the Loveland Frogman (rivaled only by my relationship with the Boy with the Boot). What I love about the Frogman is that all the components of the creature’s appearance, right down to the magic wand, originated from actual sketches and police reports. It just so happens that with many things in the paranormal field, multiple stories just got smooshed together into one. 25 years of research has taken me down strange and spooky paths that included police officers, the CIA, radiation suits, and even frozen iguanas. Manuscript currently being developed with a tentative 2026 release date.

Untitled High Strangeness Book
What if I were to tell you that I uncovered a 16-month period of time where people around the globe were seeing the same exact cryptid/creature…at precisely the same time? And that many of these sightings included reports of strange crafts, lights in the sky, and even ghosts? Weird, huh? Featuring over 3500 official reports and newspaper accounts, this manuscript is currently being shopped around to publishers.

The Ohio Crybaby Bridge Project
What many thought was the final Ohio Crybaby Bridge (alphabetically speaking), Wisner Road, will be officially added to the database shortly. But there are many personal experiences and photos that are going to be added to existing bridges. Oh, and there are 2 new Ohio bridges that are going to be added, as well. And just because I firmly believe that if something is worth doing, it’s worth overdoing, there will be something new popping up this September: The US Crybaby Bridge Project.

The Search for Empirical Data
The field of ghost research is a mess. It just is. Personally, I feel many of lost their way and/or fallen under the wheels of Entertainment Over Substance. This needs to change. And with The Ghosts Of Ohio, we’re going to try and do just that. We are currently working on streamlining and creating formal procedures for investigations. We will be timestamping and synching all audio and video, so that information can be put into spreadsheets to see if we can pinpoint hot spots (and times) related to a haunting. We’re even working on creating ways to possibly determine the mass/density of a ghost. Along the way, we’re trying to come up with ways to make us more appealing to the ghosts since, IMHO, our spectral friends have been dealing with more than a few unsavory characters, disguised as ghost hunters.

New Presentation Topics
Given the fact that I’ve been giving presentations and talks for over 25 years, I’m always looking for ways to keep things fresh. This year, I’ve been working hard to create new presentations, covering a wider range of topics. Also taking a look at updating all of the existing presentations. Even the classic Meet The Ghosts Of Ohio and Just How Weird Is Ohio presentations have been re-vamped with new stories and evidence, some of which has never been shown in public before! I’ve also branched out to new locations for my presentations, including my return to the Mothman Festival this September! Click here for an updated list of all 2024-25 confirmed presentation and appearance dates.

So there you have it: Big stuff on the way. Now to find the time to get it all done. Well, in the words of the late, great Warren Zevon: I’ll sleep when I’m dead.
